Boiler repair in The Hague

No heating or hot water? Tell us what is happening. We’ll discuss the next step with you.

Gas smell or a CO alarm? Safety comes first.

With or without an ANO plan. Call to discuss availability and costs.

Gas smell or a CO alarm? Get outside first.

Warn everyone in the home. For a CO alarm, fire or immediate danger, go outside and call 112. Do not work on the boiler yourself.

What should I do if I smell gas?

Do not use flames or turn lights or electrical appliances on or off. Close the main gas valve and open windows and doors only if safe, without delaying your exit. Go outside and call 0800 9009, the Dutch national gas emergency number. For immediate danger call 112. Wait outside for help.

A real ANO job: Anouar checking a boiler. CO-certified company (Dutch register, opens in a new tab).

Only when there is no danger

Three useful things to note

You do not need to open anything. If you see a leak or feel unsure, stop checking and call us. Checks are optional.

  1. 01

    What has stopped working?

Is it the heating, the hot water or both? Check the thermostat setting, its schedule and any low-battery warning. Tell us when the problem started.

  2. 02

    What does the display show?

Note the fault code, boiler brand and model. If the display is blank, tell us. Do not remove a cover or touch plugs and switches near a leak.

  3. 03

    What is the pressure reading?

Read the gauge and compare it with your system’s user manual. Repeated pressure loss needs investigation. Do not keep topping up or resetting the boiler.

When you call, have your postcode, address and any fault code ready.

Talk to ANO about your boiler

Clear advice. Agreed work.

What happens when you contact ANO?

Discuss the problem

We ask what you have noticed and whether there is an urgent risk. We discuss availability and the next step.

Investigate the cause

The engineer checks the installation and explains what needs attention and which repair is possible.

Agree before repair

We discuss the proposed work and costs before you agree. If additional work is needed, we discuss it with you first.

How much does a boiler repair cost?

The cost depends on diagnosis, call-out charges, labour, parts and the time of the visit. Ask about rates and any surcharges when you call. Diagnostic and call-out charges may still apply if a repair is not possible. If you have an ANO plan, we check its cover with you.

Renting your home?

Contact your landlord or property manager and check the agreed repair arrangements before booking work. Safety advice still comes first. For general housing guidance, see The Hague International Centre.

Questions about boiler repairs

Can I call without an ANO maintenance plan?

Yes. We can discuss your boiler problem, availability and costs even if you do not have an ANO plan. If you already have a contract with another company, check who handles breakdowns before arranging work.

Do you offer same-day or 24-hour repairs?

Call us to discuss current availability. This page does not promise a 24-hour service or a same-day visit. A repair can also depend on the diagnosis and the availability of parts. For a CO alarm, fire or immediate danger, leave the building and call 112.

Can I reset the boiler?

Only if your boiler’s user manual permits it for the displayed fault and there is no gas smell, CO alarm, leak or other unsafe situation. Write down the fault code first. If the fault returns, stop resetting and contact ANO. Do not open the boiler casing.

The boiler pressure is low. Should I top it up?

Compare the reading with your own system’s user manual. Instructions differ between systems. Follow user instructions only if you understand how to do so safely. If the pressure keeps dropping, there is a leak or you are unsure, ask ANO to investigate. Do not keep topping up.

I rent my home. Who should arrange the repair?

Check your tenancy agreement and contact your landlord or property manager about the agreed repair route. Explain the fault and ask who should arrange and approve the work. We cannot promise that your landlord will reimburse work you book yourself. In an emergency, follow the safety advice immediately.

Will a maintenance plan cover this repair?

For an existing ANO plan, cover depends on your package, its terms and the cause of the fault. Call-out charges, labour and parts are not covered in the same way by every plan. A new plan application does not retrospectively cover an existing fault. Discuss the current problem with us first.

Does a faulty boiler need replacing?

Not necessarily. The cause, condition of the boiler, repair cost and availability of parts all matter. We investigate first and discuss repair or replacement with you. Age alone is not a diagnosis.

Safety sources (in Dutch): Dutch fire service: carbon monoxide and ACM ConsuWijzer: gas emergencies. Follow the user manual for your own boiler.

After the fault: keep your boiler maintained

Once the current problem has been assessed, explore our boiler maintenance plans. Regular maintenance can reduce the risk of faults, but cannot prevent every breakdown. A new plan does not cover an existing fault retrospectively.
